In a rarity, Heywood Park Residence occupies an expansive inner-urban site, with the latest iteration needing to respectfully capture a spirit of place, as well as it’s many previous chapters and custodians. A deliberate realignment with the site and surrounding context ensures the heritage home remains mostly within the original footprint, expanding ever so slightly to create a dedicated new kitchen, living and dining space to the rear. By opening more intentionally from within and reorienting the heart of the home to sit within the addition, the newly defined volumes connect outward to the impressive and formally arranged garden spaces.
